ScrewDog works by allowing the hot dog to roll, not slide. A wooden or textured cutting board provides the traction needed for a smooth spiral. Very smooth or wet surfaces can cause the hot dog to slide instead of rotate.
Avoid forcing the hot dog forward. Instead, push ScrewDog straight ahead with steady pressure and let the hot dog rotate naturally beneath it. The rolling motion is what creates the continuous spiral.
Finding the right pressure makes all the difference. Too little pressure won't allow the blade to cut. Too much pressure can flatten or tear the hot dog. Apply firm, steady pressure and let the blade do the work.
Keep ScrewDog centered over the hot dog throughout each pass. If the device twists or drifts off center, simply reposition the blade into the previous cut and continue. Small corrections are normal and won't affect the finished result.
